King: Finding effective solutions to economic challenges top priority

AMMAN -- King Abdullah II on Tuesday said that finding effective solutions to economic challenges facing the Kingdom is a top priority in order to spur growth, ensure better living conditions for citizens, create jobs and combat poverty and unemployment.
During a meeting with businessmen and economic figures in the Kingdom, the King said that the government is working according to specific programs to boost economic performance and enhance investment environment.
He stressed that the success of the government's programs needs cooperation and partnership with the private sector.
The King added that the government and the private sector can cooperate to introduce vocational training programs that focus on majors and professions needed in the local market.
The meeting also touched on ways to improve the national economy, boost its competitiveness, and activate partnership with the private sector based on programs and a clear framework.
They discussed challenges posed to the trade, industry, ITC, pharmaceuticals, insurance, housing and energy sectors in the Kingdom.
Prime Minister Samir Rifai, Royal Court Chief Nasser Lozi, Deputy Premier and Minister of State Ayman Safadi, Minister of Finance Mohammad Abu Hammour, Minister of Industry and Trade Amer Hadidi, and Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Zaid Qussos attended the meeting
