Prince Ali Ben Al Hussein wins FIFA vice president position
Doha, – HRH Prince Ali Ben Al Hussein was elected Thursday as vice president of the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) on the continent of Asia.
During the meeting held in Doha, which is preparing to host the Asian Cup on Friday, delegates at the 45-nation Asian Football Confederation congress voted 25-20 to back HRH Prince Ali in beating his South Korean rival Chung Mong-Joon .
His Majesty King Abdullah II on Thursday congratulated HRH Prince Ali Ben Al Hussein, head of the Jordan and the West Asia football federations, after he won the votes of the Asian Football Confederation for the FIFA vice-presidency during the 24th Asian Football Confederation (AFC) congress in Doha today.
During a telephone conversation with Prince Ali, The King stressed that this accomplishment is a success for all Jordanians.
His Majesty also expressed confidence in Prince Ali's abilities to improve the football game at the Arab, Asian and international levels.
Prime Minister Samir Rifai also on Thursday congratulated HRH Prince Ali Ben Al Hussein after he won the votes of the Asian Football Confederation for the FIFA vice-presidency. During a telephone conversation with Prince Ali, Rifai expressed pride over Prince Ali's success, noting efforts exerted by the Prince to improve the Jordanian football game. Rifai also expressed confidence in Prince Ali's ability to improve the football game at the Arab, Asian and international levels
