Yankees fan or not, this is a hit that everyone can root for. The Yankees returned this week with their second annual HOPE (Helping Others Preserve & Excel), a week grounded in the belief that acts of goodwill provide hope and inspire others to take action. Throughout the week, Aug. 16-20, every player on the roster, including Manager Joe Girardi and his coaching staff, are working to bring to light five remarkable stories intended to inspire others into action in their own communities. Though each day's celebration wraps up at Yankees Stadium, much of the outreach is taking place away from the field with the players traveling out to personally meet with and recognize the honorees.
Here's the line-up of honorees:
Monday: Jorge Grajales, Standing Tall
Tuesday: Jane Lang, The Joy Is in the Journey
Wednesday: Johanna & Melida Arias, Home Is Where the Hearts Are
Thursday: Beautiful People
